Default Lvling in PVP and other questions

I was looking at the guild wars manual just a few questions.

1) I noticed that PVP characters start maxed out at 20. Whats that all about? Can "roleplaying" characters PVP as well? If you pvp as a role player do you fight people the same lvl as you or higher?

2) 8 SKILLS seems lame. I'm all about a game taking skill to play but limiting the number of skills does not make a skillfull game. It seems to me that whoever happens to blindly chosen the "right" skills for the battle will win. (as they wont know what classes they are fighting before hand.) how does this work?

3) I like the idea of all instanced lvls but I heard they were on rails. Only one way to get through each one. Whats that all about?

4) Is there a story? by story I DO NOT meen kill x monsters they are EVIL.

5) I heard the game gets old in a few hours. Is this true?

Thanks!

1) Guild Wars is substantially a PvP game. Arena Net believes the Max Lvl 20 Cap will create a game in which PvP relies on skill, not total hours spent playing.

2) I'm fairly sure it all just about balances out. Somebody else can elaborate on this further, hopefully.

3)Although I'm not exactly sure what you mean by rails, I know that you can easily transport between towns. This should be a no-brainer if you're wondering how this works.

4) Yes, the story is more than just that. I'd go into further detail, but I don't want to spoil any quests. However, I'm not going to say you'll enjoy them, because I am not you.

5) How can you expect us to answer this? If we're still here, then of course we still find the game fun.

I hope this helps.

1) a)I noticed that PVP characters start maxed out at 20. Whats that all about? so you can basically open the box and start pvping if that's what you want to do

b)Can "roleplaying" characters PVP as well? rping toons can do anything, but you just have to level them from lvl 1 which lets people explore the pve side if that's what you want to do

c)If you pvp as a role player do you fight people the same lvl as you or higher?think they match levels...don't know though...haven't pvped at all yet

2) 8 SKILLS seems lame...how does this work? well you get about 150 skills i think...about 75 for your main prof, and about 75 for your secondary. yes you only take 8 to the battle. i just look at it as an added challenge to make pvp a bit more interesting...in most mmo's what inevitably happens, is people use half a dozen skills over and over again anyway, and if you know you're fighting a certain class, after a bit of pvping you'll know exactly what tactics they will use. That's pretty mindless in comparrison to this system where you are constantly utilizing different skills, to accomplish different strategies.

3) I like the idea of all instanced lvls but I heard they were on rails. Only one way to get through each one. Whats that all about?yeah the landscape is not all free and open like wow, or eq2, and generally there is only a couple ways in and out, BUT you will love it once you've explored much of the world map (which by the way is HUUUGE), because instead of running, and running, and running, and running, you simply open up your map and clikc on the cities you've been to to instantly 'zone' into them. it's pretty sweet really.

4) Is there a story? by story I DO NOT meen kill x monsters they are EVIL.yeah there is a fantastic story line...the box includes a really nice manual, unlike the unfinished online one, and the first half of it is well-written story, and yes there is just as much story while you actually do the quests, but imo this game starts when you hit 20, and pvp plays a huge part of that.

5) I heard the game gets old in a few hours. Is this true?nah man...the pace in this game is fast and furious when compared the awful grind that is every other mmo on the market.

additionally: if you want to have fast-paced pvp, and pve then this game is great...if you want to just pve, then imo you'd be bored after a month or less
